The involvement of students in the daily workings of the University is split into three main levels:
- Student Bodies: The students of the different subject areas are organized in their respective student bodies, including (bio-)chemistry. Internally, students can become members of the Student Body Council (the leadership of the respective student body), fill internal positions, plan events or just come to the meetings.
- University Student Body (VS): All students of Heidelberg University are part of the VS and can get involved in the Student Council (the student parliament of the University) or in the various Departments (the executive of the VS).
- Committees: Besides the Students Bodies and the VS, students can additionally get involved in various committees of the University. This way, they can support the work of the University and represent the perspectives of students (e.g. in the Faculty Council or Exam Committees).
With these modes of engagement, students can organize events, take active part in the workings of the University and its decisions and make the perspectives and needs of students heard.
